Samuel and Brianna

Miracles do happen! 

Jim and Jewelia Stark can tell you first hand about miracles.  They are the recipients of some of God's most exciting miracles in their lives.  Samuel and Brianna are two such miracles that they have experienced.  This is their story.

After 5 years of trying to have children Jim and Jewelia began to consult with physicians regarding their inability to have children.  Jewelia began to see various doctors and take several treatments in an effort to become pregnant.  None of these methods produced any results.  It was then that Jim began the testing process and it was quickly realized that Jim and Jewelia would not be able to conceive children.

Though hurt and baffled by the fact that they would be unable to conceive children they continued to look to God, believing that he would bless them with children.  The couple began the process of private adoption.  They began to type letters and put together information packets to give to physicians and prospective birthmothers.  So many letters were printed that their printer burned up and a new one had to be purchased.  Packets were delivered to physicians and birthing centers throughout the area, however before all the packets could be delivered the call came from a local physician.  He had just seen a patient that was considering adoption for her child!

Suddenly the lives of this couple were tossed into a whirlwind of preparations for a new baby.  Nurseries had to be done, attorneys contacted, names chosen, clothes bought, families notified and everything else that needed to be done before the arrival of a baby.  Samuel's projected delivery date was to be September 23rd and this was July 15th!  Not even the normal nine months to get ready! 

On August 28th, 1999 Samuel was born, instead of 10 weeks to get ready for their new baby Jim and Jewelia had a total of 6 weeks!  Unbelievably the nursery was done, the attorney was in place, clothes were purchased, grandparents were awaiting the arrival and Samuel had been chosen as his name because it meant "God has heard".  God had provided a miracle and the rejoicing had begun!

The rejoicing had not stopped before God decided to bless the elated couple again.  The call came from the Social Worker at the hospital.  There was a little premature baby lying in the NICU of the local hospital and her birthmother had elected to put the child up for adoption.  Fifteen short months after Samuel's birth God had provided another child!  Her birth date had been on December 16th, 2000 and on December 23rd the birthmother and her family made the decision to allow Jim and Jewelia the opportunity to adopt this precious child.  Though they had always had Hannah chosen for a girl when Jim and Jewelia looked at this precious child Brianna seemed the only name for her.  On January 7th, 2001 Brianna came home with Jim and Jewelia and her 16 month old brother.  Rejoicing continued and has not stopped to this day.
